Energy Audit

Energy Audit

Home energy audit identifies cost effective ways to improve the comfort and efficiency of buildings. During the audit, extensive inspection of a building’s floors, doors, ceilings and skylights is conducted to assess overall thermal performance. In addition, the leakage rate is determined, which is a measure of how much air escapes or enters through the building’s envelope (exterior). Depending on homeowner’s requirements, audits may also test mechanical systems such as ventilation, air conditioning equipment and heating to assess their overall efficiency. At the conclusion of the inspection, a report is prepared which proposes measures that can be taken to improve efficiency of the building’s thermal performance.

It’s worth noting that audits alone don’t save energy. Recommended improvements must be implemented to improve energy efficiency in heating and cooling the house.
